NEW FEM CENTERS 2011




Society for Emergency Medicine has approved following new centers to start the SEMI accredited one year fellowship at the following centers

Kamineni Hospital, Hyderabad = 6 Seats
Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad = 10 Seats
Yashoda Hospitals, Somajiguda = 10 Seats
Yashoda Hospitals, Malakpet = 5 Seats

On behalf of the society we congratulate them in this new venture. We hope that more doctors will pursue their career in Emergency Medicine and save many more lives.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF SEMI ACADEMIC COUNCIL

The Academic council of SEMI was formed in order to inculcate the perfection in Emergency Medicine within the member of EM physicians of India. The first movement was spearheaded in 2000 by communication to Medical Council of India for recognition of Emergency Medicine as specialty to promote academics, research & innovation in EM in India. On 21st July 2009 MCI had recognized Emergency Medicine as 29th primary specialty.

The Council then submitted a model curriculum in Emergency Medicine to MCI which was built after thorough consultation with more than 50 Emergency Physicians across the country and abroad. A seven days module to training the trainers (For the other specialty doctors who are interested to join as faculty in EM) was also formed and given to MCI at the same time.
